If you're anywhere in the Boston area the next three days, there's probably a free Greek festival going on near you. The Somerville Greek Music & Food Festival has ping-pong and a raffle, but you'll probably want to pay more attention to the menu, which features classic Greek dishes like beef and chicken souvlaki, beef and lamb gyros, loukanico (barbecued Greek-style sausage), and pastries from baklava (below) to loukoumathes. (Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 29 Central St., Somerville, 617-625-2222. www.dormitionchurch.org). In Brookline, Greek Fest 2008 features a similar menu of Greek classics, as well as the Kostas Taslis Orchestra, folk dancing, and a flea market. (Annunciation Cathedral, The Cathedral Center, 162 Goddard Ave., Brookline. 617-731-6633. www.annunciationcathedral.net). Check sites for individual schedules. [N. Z.]
