The "Immoral Boston" trail

Start at about 93 Newbury St. near the intersection with Clarendon Street, site of the former Kakas Furs, where murderer Charles Stuart once worked. Walk down Clarendon, turn left on Boylston Street, then right on Berkeley Street , and go to the corner of Stuart Street, site of the former Boston Police headquarters, now Jurys Doyle Hotel, at 350 Stuart St. Turn left on Stuart Street, right on Church Street, and follow it to
Return to Stuart Street and continue east. Turn left on Washington Street to visit what remains of the Combat Zone. Follow Washington to Boylston, turn left, and cut through Boston Common to Beacon Street; follow it to Somerset Street and turn left. You'll find the John Adams Courthouse at 1 Pemberton Square, which houses the Sacco and Vanzetti exhibit. Then cross Somerset and enter the Garden of Peace memorial. From here make your way through Beacon Hill to 44A Charles St., the site of the last Boston Strangler murder. Then head north on Charles for the Liberty Hotel, the site of the former Charles Street Jail at 215 Charles St., and have a drink at the bar. You'll need one.
When touring by vehicle, Levin and Fox also include the parking garage on Prince and Commercial Street in the North End, the location of the 1950 Brink's armored car robbery; the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum, the site of a huge art theft in 1990; the old Charlestown Prison, now Bunker Hill Community College, where Sacco and Vanzetti were executed; and other sites.![]()
