Samantha, Dylan, Ashley, and Jalen are four of the more than 500 children waiting to be adopted. Samantha, 14, likes music, drawing, and shopping. Jalen, 6, loves affection. Dylan, 11, enjoys sports, movies, and board games. Ashley (inset), 13, plays soccer and loves dolls. Local photographers volunteered their talent and time to create "The Heart Gallery," a portrait of these and other local kids currently in foster care. The exhibit, organized by the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange, highlights the children and teens, ages 6-16, who face emotional, intellectual, and physical challenges. Today from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. (through May 11). Free. South End Community Health Center, 1601 Washington St., Boston. 617-425-2000. www.mareinc.org, www.sechc.org JUNE WULFF
