While there has yet to be a major breakthrough on the Charles River Conservancy’s plea for public swimming, the group has discovered the next best thing: paddlesurfing on the Charles. The sport combines the upright stance of surfboarding with the gentle rowing of a gondolier. Boards and paddles are complimentary, as are the gentle instructions of a seasoned pro.
