Malden native Melanie Moore is returning to her home city to perform a concert benefiting the Northern Strand Community Trail.

Moore, who grew up riding her bike near the trail’s proposed route, will perform with her Central Massachusetts-based blues band, Melanie and the Blue Shots, Nov. 14 at First Parish, 2 Elm St., Malden.

By the end of next summer, proponents expect to have the path built from its start at Madeline English School in Everett to Medford Street in Malden. The entire 9-mile trail would pass along an abandoned railroad bed through Everett, Malden, Revere, Saugus, and Lynn, said Sharon Santillo, a member of the board of Bike to the Sea, a nonprofit organization advocating for the pathway.

Bike to the Sea officials hope to use the concert, which is open only to the organization’s members, as a way to increase membership. Membership costs $15 per person or $25 for a family.

“We need all kinds of help,’’ Santillo said. “It’s a wonderful group of people working for a very worthy cause.’’

The concert will be 8-11 p.m. and be preceded by Bike to the Sea’s annual meeting at 7 p.m. The meeting is free and open to the public. For more information, visit biketothesea.com.
