Singer-songwriter Alejandro Escovedo’s 2008 “Real Animal’’ calls on lifelong influences including his 1970s punk roots, alt-country, cowpunk, and chamber pop. Escovedo applied his retrospective approach after narrowly beating hepatitis C. The artist, touring with guitarist David Pulkingham, has a new record slated for summer release. April 6 at 7:30 p.m. $28. Somerville Theatre, 55 Davis Square, 617-876-4275, www.worldmusic.org
