You'll need a food mill to make this applesauce. Use any apples you have - and several varieties.
8 medium apples
1/2 cup water
1 cinnamon stick
1 tablespoon Red Hots
Without peeling the apples, cut them into 2-inch pieces.
In a saucepan, combine the ap ples, water, cinnamon, and Red Hots. Bring to a boil, turn the heat to its lowest setting, and cov er the pan. Simmer the apples for 35 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until they are pulpy. Add more water if necessary.
Work the apples through a food mill. Serve warm. Sheryl Julian and Julie Riven.
