There are some foods that together seem the ideal culinary marriage. Fish and chips, hot dogs and beans, and, of course, spaghetti and meatballs. Who would have thought that this staple of the Italian-American kitchen was made for the first time by Italian immigrants who tossed the pasta and meat together only after they arrived in the States?
