Fondue

The word fondue comes from the French "fondre," which means"to melt." Thoughthere are oil-based and chocolate fondues, the most popular is theclassic Swiss cheese fondue, typically madein a special pot witha blend of Gruyere and Emmental and sometimes the softer Appenzeller, dry white wine, cherry brandy, and garlic. Long forks are used to spear cubes of bread and dip them into the hot cheese.
