Basic cookie mix

Makes about 11 cups

The recipe comes from a 1985 "Pillsbury Classics" cookbook. After you make the basic mixture, it can be used to make other cookies.

6 cups flour

3 1/2 cups sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

2 teaspoons salt

2 cups (4 sticks) unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

1. In very large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

2. With a pastry blender, cut the butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse meal. Store in tightly covered container in refrigerator or freezer. Let mix to come to room temperature before using as directed. Lynn Gatti Walton
