Good food for good cause

The fourth annual Cooking for a Cause gala to benefit children at risk will feature food by Chris Schlesinger of East Coast Grill , Tony Maws of Craigie Street Bistrot , Barbara Lynch of No. 9 Park , Rachel Klein of Om , David Kinkead of Sibling Rivalry , Andy Husbands of Tremont 647 , and others on March 29 at the State Room . As well as tastings, the event includes a live and a silent auction featuring Red Sox memorabilia and Nantucket getaways, and an appearance by comic Jimmy Tingle. L'Espalier will combine fine food with cabaret classics on March 25 at a four-course dinner featuring singer Tracy Reynolds . Reynolds will sing selections from George Gershwin, Richard Rogers, and others. Some of the dishes planned by chef and owner Frank McClelland are grilled Comte cheese with tomato soup; blackened wolffish with green goddess dressing, and honey-glazed braised pork shanks with sweet potato puree. The Metropolitan Club in Chestnut Hill is offering Passover dinners April 2 and 3. Chef Todd Winer plans dishes such as matzo popovers; veal brisket with potato pancakes and braised carrots; and meringue and berry Napoleon. Cost for the prix fixe lunch is $15; $40 for dinner . The restaurant will also offer Passover meals for take out, including chicken soup with matzo balls; baby poussin with matzo stuffing; whole baked salmon; and macaroons.
