The Wellesley Mothers Forum offers guidelines for volunteers cooking for new moms and their families. Here are some of their ideas:
Cook enough for everyone. Lasagna and casseroles are ideal for this.
Bear in mind allergies or foods the family doesn't like.
Don't think that everything has to be homemade. A store-bought meal might be just as welcome.
Use disposable containers or ones that the family can keep. Mark all items clearly with contents and date; write reheating instructions on the containers or separately.
Keep the drop - off brief. Don't make the new mom feel that she has to entertain you. Remind the mom by e - mail or telephone when she is getting a delivery.![]()
