Makes about 2 cups

2 ripe avocados
1 small plum tomato, finely chopped
2 tablespoons fresh lemon or lime juice
1 small jalapeno, seeded and finely chopped
4 sprigs fresh cilantro, stems finely chopped, leaves coarsely chopped
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
Black pepper, to taste
1. Halve, pit, and peel the avocados. In a bowl mash the flesh with a fork until creamy.

2. Add the tomato, lemon or lime juice, jalapeno, cilantro, hot sauce, salt, and a little black pepper. Serve with chips. Adapted from Kathy Maister
