There must be something in the air -- or our brains are being turned to mush by banal recordings of Christmas songs. Just in is a report by marketer Marian Saltzman, saying that gastroporn is an emerging food trend. In a soon-to-be-published book, "Next Now," Saltzman defines this as something much less salacious than it sounds. "The preparing, cooking, tasting, and eating of food have become voyeuristic pleasures separated from physical reality," Saltzman says. In other words, we watch Emeril (Lagasse) and Giada (de Laurentiis) making hearty, rustic stews and luscious linguine with spicy red clam sauce while we snack on Domino's pizza in front of the TV. Turn back the trend, I say. Switch off the telly and get in there and make a pie. Posted by Alison Arnett at 04:44 PM
