A new study in the Journal of American Medicine puts that notion right where it should be -- out. Most vitamin supplements don't prolong life, the study says, even though Americans are spending $2.3 billion a year on them. Some may, in fact, be detrimental to health. And, as should have been apparent from the first, the study says the best way to ingest vitamins is by eating food. Eat that orange, nibble on green vegetables, and save money while you're at it.
