Warm days and chilly evenings

Except for last night, of course, when we had to quickly throw up the storm windows to pull down some screens and let in some air. This done, by the way, without losing a finger.

Most nights for a while will have a little chill in the air, so we haven't gone too springy on the table. The flattened chickens we make all the time are now roasted on a bed of new potatoes and plump spring onions:

There are always green beans, or for special occasions, haricots verts:

Ever since we found Backyard Beauties in the market, tomatoes that aren't really good enough to slice for salads, we've been roasting them and dusting them with fresh herbs:

The season of favas, local asparagus, morels, and native strawberries is just around the corner.
