Wal-Mart entered the organic market with a bang. The fact that they began carrying organic produce and other products was widely reported (including in our Food section). The retail giant was bound to make a big difference in the acreage of organics. Now, W-M, which offers organics at lower prices than other markets, has been caught selling conventional food under an organic label. The question is whether the signs were incorrect. Regulators in Wisconsin are investigating stores there; the US Department of Agriculture is looking into it as well. The Cornucopia Institute lodged the complaints against Wal-Mart.
