Another way to cook asparagus

Last weekend I bought enough local asparagus to make one bunch every night. So there's lots of experimenting with how best to cook them. I think my favorite way is roasted, which I do in a hotel pan. The stainless steel pan is deeper than a traditional roasting pan.

After snapping off the tough ends, I rinse the spears and put them in the pan with just the water that clings to them. Add a sprinkle of olive oil, sea salt, and black pepper and slip them into a 400 degree oven (or even hotter), and let them cook for about 10 minutes. The method works better than dry roasting because the water evaporates and steams the spears a little, but they also get a nice roasty taste.
