Fry, fry again
Fried chicken and summer afternoons seem to go together. But this isn't exactly fried chicken country. You need to be living in the South to find good crisp, beautifully seasoned chicken everywhere. Still, several places in this region are doing it well. Korean and Taiwanese restaurants both make a version of fried chicken, as does the Cambridge spot Coast Cafe, and SoulFire in Allston (pictured). More upscale is Tremont 647, where the white meat chicken comes with gravy. You might find that the best chicken of all is in your own kitchen. Here's the recipe if you want to try it. Otherwise, let these cooks offer you golden brown and succulent birds.
