IDEAL FOR Gourmands, animal lovers, those who fancy European chocolates, and in the-know Cantabrigians.

THE BACK STORY Larry Burdick founded his chocolate company in New York City in the 1980s, but in true “Green Acres” fashion, he moved to bucolic New Hampshire, where his business fl ourished. Burdick spent time in France before setting up his company in the states, so his fl avorful chocolate has a distinctly European fl air. To employ an over-used phrase, it’s all good; but for Valentine’s Day, the only gift you should be giving is a wood box of Burdick’s adorable chocolate mice. These sweet chocolate rodents — available in white, milk, and dark chocolate — are filled with smooth ganache.
