Lavender splash

Makes 2

SYRUP

1 tablespoon dried lavender flowers

1/2 cup sugar

1 cup water

1. In a small saucepan, combine the lavender flowers, sugar, and water. Cook over low heat until the sugar dissolves. Bring the syrup to a boil and continue simmering 3 minutes more.

2. Strain the sauce and discard the solids.

DRINK

8 sage leaves

1 tablespoon lemon juice

4 ounces lavender syrup, heated to warm

Soda water

1. In a small bowl with a wooden spoon, crush the sage to release the oils. Stir the leaves and lemon juice into the warm syrup.

2. Strain the syrup, discarding the solids.

3. Fill 2 glasses 1/2 to 3/4 full with syrup and top with soda water. Adapted from Radius
