The best of bugs

Mosquitoes are humming in your ear and ants are marching underfoot. You might feel like terminating every insect ever hatched, but why not make peace with the creepy-crawly world instead by spending Saturday enjoying food, art, and dance that shows the better side of bugs.

You and your honeybee can get off to a tasty start with brunch at the Beehive in the South End. Time will fly while you're munching on Beehive eggs Benedict with either ham ($11) or smoked salmon ($13). Try the eggs Shakshuka served with polenta ($11) or the breakfast flatbread with spinach, cheese, and eggs ($11). Brunch Sat-Sun 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. 541 Tremont St., Boston. 617-423-0069, beehive boston.com

Then it's off to see the "Order Insecta" show at the Concord Art Association, featuring artists' interpretations of things with wings and stingers. Check out the wall of cutout beetle and dragonfly silhouettes by Randal Thurston, the sensuous paintings of moths and butterflies by Tamara Krendel and Elizabeth Awalt, and the mixed media by Anne Oldach and Jenny Lawton Grassl. Open Tue-Sat 10 a.m.-4:40 p.m., Sun noon-4 p.m. (through Aug. 14). Poetry reading by Grassl Thursday at 7 p.m. Free. 37 Lexington Road, Concord. 978-369-2578. concordart.org

Armed with a new attitude about many-legged creatures, head to the Windhover Center for the Performing Arts in Rockport for an outdoor dance concert by the Windhover Dance Company and Dusan Tynek Dance Theatre. Among the dances presented by Tynek is "Apian Way," which was inspired by the social interaction of bees and how they seem to be disappearing. $15 (reservations recommended). Fri-Sun 8 p.m. (If rain, performance will be moved indoors with limited seating.) 257 Granite St., Rockport. 978-546-3611. windhover.org

Afterward, you'll be in the mood for some serious cocooning.
