Karen Collins, owner of Babycakes in Boxborough, calls herself a purist baker, so it’s no surprise that her rugelach ($10.95 for a bag of about 10) are made from a traditional recipe with a buttery, cream cheese dough filled with apricot preserves, cinnamon, currants, and nuts. Twenty percent of profits are donated to the Pan-Mass Challenge, a 192-mile bike ride from Sturbridge to Provincetown that raises money for cancer research and treatment. The crescent-shape rugelach (Yiddish for “little twists’’) are rolled and shaped by hand and neatly packaged in lined brown paper bags with cellophane windows. “They’re a labor of love to make,’’ says Collins, “but worth it.’’ Available at Idylwilde Farms, 366 Central St., Acton, 978-263-5943, or go to www.babycakesandconfections.com.![]()
