Closing Glance: Media companies waver

NEW YORK—Major media companies' shares wavered Tuesday as oil prices jumped to a new record near $127 a barrel.

Also Tuesday, a Commerce Department report showed that retail sales fell in April, in line with expectations. Excluding car sales, the results were better than expected.

Here is a look at shares of some major media companies fared on Tuesday:

Gannett Co., up 57 cents to $30.64.

Time Warner Inc., up 7 cents to $16.11.

New York Times Co., down 24 cents to $19.33.

Walt Disney Co., down 44 cents to $34.33.
