NEW YORK—Shares of some top media companies were down at the close of trading:

Disney fell $.64 or 2.0 percent, to $32.16.

NY Times fell $.85 or 6.0 percent, to $13.24.

News Corp fell $.26 or 1.8 percent, to $13.99.

Time Warner fell $.22 or 1.4 percent, to $15.66.

Viacom fell $.74 or 2.5 percent, to $29.22.
