Best films of 2003 (in no particular order): 21 Grams, Spellbound, Mystic River, Dirty Pretty Things, Lilya 4-Ever, In This World, Capturing The Friedmans, Lord of the rings- The Return of the King.

Most Overrated film: Lost in translation - Sofia Coppola did a good job of creating a poetic mood piece, but the film owes a large debt to the films of Wong Kar Wai and other contemporary east Asian filmmakers.

Worst films of 2003: I think i managed to avoid them!

sam, malden

Finding Nemo

Worst:
Charlies Angels 2 (painful to watch)
Legally Blonde 2 (Even more painful to watch)
2 Fast 2 Furious ( had to turn it off )
School of Rock ( annoying, just leave the school already)

Christine, Haverhill

The best films of the year were The Return of the King and Master and Commander. Each were astounding and well-made. The worst movies of the year were The Cat in the Hat and The Lizzie McGuire Movie.

Jeff, Plymouth, MA

Best film hands down- The Last Samurai. Fantastic actor(s), great story line, interesting to learn the cultural history in the movie. If you have not seen it, you must! Worst Move- Gigli- did not see it, don't want to see-would not waste 50 cents on supporting the Bennifer duo...pathetic!

Top 5:
1. Lost in Translation
2. Secret Lives of Dentists
3. Master and Commander

Terrible:

Joe, Natick
