Favorite spy show Matthew Gilbert writes: "Let's get real. Sure, '24' is the CIA drama that gets all the buzz, but 'Alias,' so audacious and so plastic fantastic, is really the bee's knees."It's pretty clear where Matthew's loyalties lie. Now we want to know what you think. Which spy show delivers the goods, and why do you like it so much?
Page 7 Clearly, the writer of this article is a huge fan of Alias and not 24. That's fine. I would have read with more interest an article about why I should watch Alias. But insulting 24 as a way of promoting Alias is not going to sway me. I think 24 is amazing. It's the first show in years that I have to tape if I'm not going to be home. I haven't seen Alias, but from the writer's description, they seem to be two completely different types of shows. Original TV of any kind should be celebrated considering the lack of original thinking in almost every show out there. Lauren, Northborough I enjoy both shows, but I couldn't disagree with Matthew Gilbert more. "24" is a far superior show. Sorry, but I've read quite a few of Mr Gilbert's reviews thru the years and he's quite predictable. He always leans towards the show with more "eye candy". Matter of fact, I recall Mr. Gilbert as being the only human being on the planet several years ago to give glowing reviews to Jenny McCarthy's sitcom. 'Nuf said. "24" rules! Paul Donnelly, Attleboro, Ma MI-5 on A&E (Spooks in the UK) Brian Lomax, Marlborough My Favorite Spy Show Is Alias. I think this show is great with all the actors and the drama. I also like where Alias is going with Syd missing for 2 years and she is trying to put the her life back together again and finding out what happened to her 2 missing years. Saul, Milton Alias Andreia, Boston Alias is Awesome! I never look at the clock until it is 9:50 PM, and am always bummed that the last scene is coming on. And the tape is always running for fear of interuptions- and to always rewind and watch it during the week to make sure I got everything! Jill, Lynnfield Alias! A loyal fan since the beginning. It doesn't get any better than that. Angela, Medfield, MA 24 definitely. Tense, gripping shows with lots of surprises and plot twists. The first season was poorly written...it seemed like the writers did not have an overall plan and that they didn't decide who the bad guy was going to be until the last show. But last season the show was great!! In comparison, the plot in Alias was stupid in the first season, and continues be stupid this season. In fact it's even dumber this season! Also, the acting in Alias is poor. It's basically just a vehicle for Jennifer Garner to change clothes and wear wigs. Ellen, Milton ALIAS!!!! everything else trys to be this good and doesnt even come close! its the best show by far! Kara, Boston "Alias" is far better than "24". Watching Jack Bauer save the world all in one looooooooooong day was cool the first season, but it so lost it's appeal at the end of that season, especially with the gratuitious killing of Teri Bauer. However, when Sydney Bristow saves the world, it's far more fascinating because even when she does fix the crisis, there's always some twist to it that makes you go 'Whuh?!?!'. "24" used to have that, but Kim Bauer can only be kidnapped so many times. Isabelle, Boston
