Your Star Wars memories

For Star Wars fans, all memories are held close to the heart. For Halloween in third grade, did you dress up as Luke, Han, or Chewy? Do you still have your action figure collection, or did your mom sell it during a yard sale in 1986? Did you ever own R2-D2 Underoos? In celebration of the original Star Wars trilogy release on DVD, we asked you to share your Star Wars memories with us. Here are your responses.

I was 10 when Star Wars: A New Hope came out. I had to pick up a part time job mowing lawns so I could go to the movies over and over again. Now, at 37, I have had to pick up a part time job mowing lawns to afford to buy my 4 year old all the Star Wars toys that I wanted as a child but never got. I think that it is even more fun now watching him enjoy his costumes and toys, and watching the movies over and over again.

When "Empire" was released, I was in High School. We drove into Boston to see the 6:00 AM show and there wasn't an empty seat in the theater. When it was over, it was such a shock for us to exit into a bright sunny day as the sun had just started to rise when we left.

Being dragged there by friends who said I would love it, and standing in a line that went down the street to be able to watch it on the only large screen theatre at the time on Charles Street.

The first time I saw Star Wars, I was eight years old. My parents took my brother and I to see it on opening night. We had seen the ads on TV for a few weeks and really wanted to see what this movie was all about. We got the to the theater late, the only seats we could get were in the front row (oh, darn - total immersion in the picture). We saw these two robots walking across the desert - my parents immediately thought "Oh, no - some kind of minimalist art film interpretation of Science Fiction." By the end of the movie we were breathless. I remember how my stomach lurched as the shot from the cockpit of an X-wing dove into the trench around the Death Star. Deciding we had to know how the movie started, we stayed in our seats to watch the beginning of the next showing (the movie was far from sold out, so nobody seemed to care). We ended up staying for the whole thing.

The grocery store was in the same mall as the movies, so each week during the summer, my brother and I would go see Star Wars while my mother went grocery shopping. In the end I saw the movie more than 30 times during its initial theatrical release.

Halloween 1977 my mother made me a Stromtrooper costume out of cardboard tubes and boxes, painted it white and carefully shaped it. Once I had the costume on it was so bulky that my mom had to carry up and down ths stairs at every house we went to.

You all need to get a life; you sound like a bunch of dorks, lining up for Yankees.....I mean, Star Wars DVD's. What a bunch of nerds; you need help! And tell Steinbrenner that the force is with me!

I remember one time I was walking through the park thinking of Star Wars and I slipped on a big piece of dog crap and broke my ankle. Good times

I have 2

I was six when I saw the Star Wars at the drive in. My parent s gave my sister and I choice between mini golf or the drive in. i wanted the mini golf but I lost out to my big sister who wanted to go see this Star Wars movie. Thank God my parents did not listen do me that day.

A few years back the Wang Center showed all three movies in a row. My best friend and i had our whole section roaring over our endless debate on who was cooler, Han or Luke? (psst it Han by the way).

Big deal-when's Spaceballs 2 coming out? That Dark Helmet is one scary dude...especially when he's caught playing with his dolls...

I was 7 when Star Wars came out. After that one evening in White City Movie Theatre in Worcester, I was hooked. I collected everything, had everything, and wanted everything. I remember that one of my friends, Greg got Yoda as an action figure but I wanted to have Yoda first; so another friend, Jack and I decided to steal Yoda for ourselves. Unfortunately me and buddy got into a fight because we could not decide who should take Yoda home that night. My friend, jack told my mother I stole the stupid action figure and I got grounded. thanks for the memories Star Wars.
