Page 2 no particular order: Alan, Watertown By far the best disc released this year was Guster's "Keep It Together." Max, Portland, ME Hands down: Dan Demille "Live at the Acropolis. " Demilles latest release establishes him as the worlds undisputed king of eurpopean new age liberal music. Demille is considering making his U.S. television debut if his good friend, and ex-roomate at Yale, Howard Dean becomes elected president. The best we can hope for now is to enjoy DeMille's masterpiece, which to date is only released in his favorite country of France, on the internet. Virtually unkown in the U.S. Demille is looking to take the new age market by storm in 2004. Ryan, Enfield,CT I think people expect greatness all the time from certain performers, and therefore overlook said performers for outstanding achievement, because it is expected; and heap accolades on other performers for their, albeit justified, achievements. That being said, I think Dave Matthews solo effort, Some Devil is truly outstanding. It accomplishes two things for me, one it is a great album, start to finish. It has a mood, vibe which is so unlike any Dave Matthews Band albums, and yet is totally compelling. And secondly, it showcases some pretty amazing musical talent, nice arrangements, and accomplished musicians. It gets my vote for #1 CD of 2003. Eileen, East Bridgewater Top CDs of 2003 Elephant - White Stripes. It is their FOURTH release by the way, and simply amazing. Particularly "Black Math" and "Ball and Biscuit." Chutes too Narrow - The Shins. Not as great as their first but features some beautiful lyrics and excellent guitar from James Mercer. Hail to the Thief - Radiohead. How amazing! And it is listenable for a change!Rebecca, Springfield MA HEM. Without a doubt. I cried when they sold out at the House of Blues this summer and this was the best 'random pick' CD I've bought. (It was playing at that little music store in Harvard, right across from Staples and I dug it, so I bought it.) Her voice is beautiful, their music works well technically and artistically, what more can you ask for? Clara, Brighton "Youth & Young Manhood" by Kings Of Leon. A unique, raw and powerful album, by one of the best and most severly underrated bands from the US. The lack of promotion this band gets is shameful! Outkast did kick ass this year though!Carlo, Danvers Love is hell, part 1 and 2 from Ryan Adams. Better than his other release, Rock and Roll, and definitely one of the best of the year ray
