Your top CDs of 2003 The Globe critics have compiled their lists of the year's best music releases. Now here's your chance to share your favorite CDs of 2003 with other Boston.com users. What CDs stood out above the rest this year? Which ones would you recommend and why?
Page 7 Cher sings Soft Cell's greatest hits or Michael Jackon's "Boys" Mark, Brookline Neal Young's latest album is completely unlistenable. Ted, Boston I feel "Lost Dogs" is the best piece of work to be released in 03. Pearl Jam is what rock and roll music are all about, in such an insipid industry of mediocrity. Bob, Easton, MA Counting Crows- Films about Ghosts. Brandon, Boston CLAY AIKEN'S INVISIBLE Dianne, Brockton Without a doubt (and as many others have said) The White Stripes "Elephant". While you're at it, pick up their albums "De Stijl" and "White Blood Cells". You won't regret it!!! Meghan, Cambridge As someone reaching 40 I've seen a lot of bad years for popular music and unfortuantely this was one of them. There were a few rays of sunshine: OutKast, Train, Damien Rice, Dido and Dar Williams, but for the most part pop music seems to headed into a downward spiral as music for adults seems to be waning. Not every radio listener is in high school. Chas, Boston My favorite CD of 2003 would have to be "Streetcore", by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros. Martin Slattery and Scott Shields did an outstanding job of putting this together after Joe's untimely death in 2002. This is not just a thrown-together final album. It's the best album the Mescaleros have done to date, and leaves you wondering what would have been next, had Strummer not left us so soon. Kristen , Boston
