After setting box office records with “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” this weekend, Marvel has announced the release date for the patriotic superhero’s next solo adventure.

The studio will be bringing the First Avenger back to the big screen May 6, 2016 in the yet-to-be-titled “Captain America 3.”

The May 6 release date will set the Marvel star up for a head-to-head battle with another big superhero flick, Warner Bros. yet to be named Superman vs. Batman movie, which also hits theaters on the same day.

Before Cap’s next solo outing, the red, white, and blue clad hero will be teaming up with Iron Man, Thor, and the rest of the gang when “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” hits theaters on May 1, 2015.

Considering that star Chris Evans is planning to take a break from acting once his contract with Marvel is up, it looks like the studio is trying to get the most out of Captain America while they still can.
