Gwyneth Paltrow is set to play the lead role in a film about the life of screen legend Marlene Dietrich. It will be based on Maria Riva's memoir "Marlene Dietrich," and the cooperation of Dietrich's estate has been obtained. Jess Money will write the script and produce with Paltrow and David Nicksay.
There is no firm timetable on the project, which is just as well because Paltrow has taken a screen sabbatical following the birth of her first child with her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
BEACHED BYNES: Amanda Bynes's next starring role, after "What a Girl Wants," will be the romantic comedy "Lovewrecked" for director Randal Kleiser.
The movie features Bynes as Jenny, an 18-year-old who is ecstatic when she learns her favorite rock star is a guest at the tropical resort where she is working. When they are thrown overboard during a cruise, Jenny finds herself stranded alone with him on what they think is a remote beach.
MAKING THE WARHOL SCENE: David Mackenzie, who made waves for helming the controversial "Young Adam," starring Ewan McGregor and Tilda Swinton, will next direct "Nico," a biopic centering on the model-singer-actress who was part of the Andy Warhol scene in the 1960s. The project also will revolve around the lives of other members of the Velvet Underground.
