When Halberstam died in a car accident in April, he had just finished writing "The Coldest Winter: America and the Korean War," a tome on a conflict the journalist believed had been largely forgotten. The work brought full-circle a celebrated career that began more than three decades ago with "The Best and the Brightest," his highly acclaimed account of America's involvement in the Vietnam War. A tribute to Halberstam presented by Harvard Book Store and Powell's Books will feature a short film introducing "The Coldest Winter," followed by a panel discussion among Halberstam's friends and colleagues, including Globe sports columnist Bob Ryan and Harvard professor and author Samantha Power. 7 p.m. $10. Brattle Theatre, 40 Brattle St., Cambridge. 617-661-1515. harvard.com![]()
