One may not immediately equate Iran with riotous slapstick, but director Ahmad Reza Motamedi just might be the Tehranian answer to Mel Brooks. This madcap selection from the 14th annual Boston Festival of Films From Iran is heavy on cartoon violence and light on sparkling repartee, though it seems perfectly content hitting below the belt to capture those yuks. A bumbling Iranian Fatty Arbuckle becomes engaged to a daffy mafia princess named Angel, and wherever they go, a troupe of demented relatives follows. Amid the pratfalls and pie-throwing, there are some inspired flourishes, like the grizzled landlord who announces imminent evictions over the public address system. It's all unapologetically lowbrow, and the brand of delirious chaos on display hasn't been seen since the days of the Keystone Cops. 4:15 p.m. $10, $8 members, seniors, and students. Museum of Fine Arts, 465 Huntington Ave., Boston. 617-369-3687. mfa.org/film![]()
