It's that special time of year when romance and golden statuettes are much on our minds.
Yes, Valentine's Day is Thursday, and this year's Academy Awards show is two weeks from today. What better time to celebrate those very special couples where both he and she are Oscar winners?
There are surprisingly few of them, actually. In two cases, the couple subsequently divorced (at least we know it wasn't Oscar envy!). In three of them, a partner has died.
This year Cupid has his fingers crossed that Jack Fisk will win for best art direction, for "There Will Be Blood," thus adding another couple to the list (Fisk's wife is Sissy Spacek, who won best actress for "Coal Miner's Daughter," in 1980). Failing that, some day maybe Kate Winslet can finally be Oscar bride instead of bridesmaid (five nominations), and join her husband, Sam Mendes (best director, "American Beauty," 1999). Or three-time nominee Annette Bening can make husband Warren Beatty (best director, "Reds," 1981) find some room for her on the mantelpiece.
Until then, here are the Oscar couples with at least one surviving partner.
