If you were busy fiddling with your Rubik's Cube back in 1981, you may have missed one of the most beguiling films of the decade. A moped-riding postman (Frederic Andrei) is obsessed with an opera singer (Wilhelmenia Wiggins Fernandez) who refuses to be recorded. A bootleg leads to big trouble. Director Jean-Jacques Beineix's debut is peopled with oddball characters including a murderous punk with a hearing aid. Various showtimes. $9.75, $7.50 seniors. Kendall Square Cinema, 1 Kendall Square, Cambridge. 617-499-1996. landmarktheatres.com
