Tina Klein goes above and beyond classroom instruction. For her new course on Asian-American film, the Boston College associate professor of English invites young filmmakers working in New York to present their films for her Asian American Filmmakers Series. Tonight's screening is "The Motel," a comedy about a 13-year-old boy who befriends a charismatic Korean-American guy and learns about manhood. Producer Karin Chien (below) will introduce and discuss the film, directed by Michael Kang. The series continues on April 23 at 7 p.m. with Socheata Poeuv's "New Year Baby." 7 p.m. Free. Boston College, Fulton Hall, Room 230, 140 Commonwealth Ave., Chestnut Hill. 617-552-3743.
