July 8, 2008

As part of its Latin American Film series, the Somerville Library screens the 1994 movie "Strawberry & Chocolate," which was the first Cuban film to be nominated for a Best Foreign Picture Academy Award. It's a story about a gay man named Diego and his strange friendship with the young, homophobic David. The title comes from a scene in the movie where David says he knew Diego was gay when Diego chose strawberry ice cream over chocolate. We wonder what vanilla would have meant. 6:30 p.m. Free.
