1: HE'S A SPORTS FANATIC.
"I'll root for a team but I won't root against another. . . . Listen, I'm not even in love with golf; I just made 'Tin Cup.' And I've probably said it in 200 interviews: No, I'm not an addict of golf. When you have children you don't go plan the weekend."
2: HE HAS A "NO SEQUELS" RULE.
"It's not a rule. I would do them; I don't feel above them. . . . I was going to do a sequel to 'The Bodyguard' - you know, with Princess Di - but when it wasn't her any more, I couldn't think of a piece of casting that was really highly unusual. . . . There's eight or nine movies I probably could have done a series of movies on, and from a career standpoint that's not a bad place to go run and hide if you feel worried about your career. I just never have."
3: "WATERWORLD" TANKED AT THE BOX OFFICE.
"One of the sea changes I feel occurring is people's desire to tell me how much they like 'Waterworld,' around the world. . . . I tell them: 'You know, the movie made an enormous amount of money. Just because the press didn't say it did or not . . .' But they feel like they want to say 'Look, I'm really sorry you took that beating.' It's so funny." (The film took in more than $250 million worldwide, on a production budget estimated at $175 million.)
