Tonight is the start of Films at the Gate, a series of Chinese-language movies - mostly of the kung-fu variety - screened each year in a vacant lot near the Chinatown gate. The program, which runs five consecutive nights through Sunday, starts tonight with "My Young Auntie," a 1981 action comedy (below) about a woman who marries an older teacher so that she can protect his estate from his evil family. (Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.) Another highlight is Friday's screening of the 1929 movie "Red Heroine," which will feature a live soundtrack performance by Devil Music Ensemble. Screenings at 7:30 p.m. Free. Chinatown Gate, 617-482-2380. www.filmsatthegate.org![]()
