If you're a film major or a fan of dark, smart cinema, you should be required to spend this weekend in Northampton for "A Tribute to Robert Altman." The four-day celebration of Altman films kicks off today with a 6 p.m. screening of "M*A*S*H" (left), and continues through Monday with lineups that include "3 Women," "The Player," "A Wedding," and "The Long Goodbye." We recommend sticking around for the 3:30 p.m. Monday screening of "Short Cuts." It's a long one, but it's good. $7 per film, $25 for tonight's 9 p.m. opening-night concert featuring the punk band the Feelies, $30 for festival pass. Academy of Music Theatre, 274 Main St., Northampton, 413-320-9132. www.academyofmusictheatre.com
