The North End is known for restaurants, feasts, neighborhood feel, and parking challenges, and now we can add a film festival to the list. The North End Film Festival is the first annual screening of shorts selected from more than 50 submissions. The winning seven include Tim Cawley’s “Big Day of Fishing,’’ Arnon Schorr’s “The Audition’’ and Kevin Anderton’s “Witness Protection Program.’’ Ticket proceeds will support affordable arts-related programs for residents of the North End, Waterfront, and surrounding neighborhoods. There will be a Q&A with filmmakers, cast, and crew. 7 p.m. $10. Hard Rock Cafe Boston, 22-24 Clinton St., Boston. 617-227-2270. www.nempacboston.org
