LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT
(Comcast Movies and Events) A remake of Wes Craven’s 1972 horror film about parents who wind up attacking their daughter’s attackers. As a night of movie excitement, it’s dubious. This remake plods to its finale. Yet the movie packs a vicarious jolt that might feel cathartic to some moviegoers. (R; runs through Jan. 29)

WESLEY MORRIS

THE ACCIDENTAL TOURIST
(Encore on Comcast) Totally winning romantic comedy based on Anne Tyler’s joyous novel about a repressed travel writer whose idea of travel is to pretend he never left home and the determined dog-obedience trainer who opens him up. William Hurt and Geena Davis enhance the quirkily eccentric corner of Baltimore where their mating dance unfolds. (PG; runs through Jan. 28)

MORLANG
(Comcast Movies and Events) A chilly, slow, but absorbing puzzle film about a Francis Bacon-like celebrity artist (Paul Freeman), his late wife (Diana Kent), her younger boyfriend (Marcel Faber), and the perils of passive-aggressiveness. Director Tjebbo Penning shuffles past and present, love and resentment, guilt and innocence in ways that keep you continually off balance - but ultimately, it’s hard to care about an antihero who apparently cares about nothing. (Unrated; runs through Jan. 31) TY BURR
