It’s hard to take your eyes off Grace Kelly, Gloria Swanson, Veronica Lake, Olivia de Havilland, and Kim Novak when they’re on the big screen, and one reason is their fabulous outfits. The costume designer responsible for their high-style, elaborate, period, casual, and even bizarre wardrobes is the subject of The Costumes of Edith Head, screenings of Paramount films from 1941-58. Today at 2 p.m. (“This Gun for Hire,’’ with Lake, inset), 4 p.m. (“To Each His Own’’), and 7 p.m. (“The Heiress’’). Through Jan. 3. $10, $7 (matinee); $8 students and seniors, $6 (matinee). Museum of Fine Arts, 465 Huntington Ave., Boston. 617-369-3306. www.mfa.org/film
