New releases A Good Old Fashioned Orgy There’s a decent comedy somewhere in here, if only its makers weren’t so attracted to everyone else in the room. Any originality is overwhelmed by a lazy eagerness to embrace the new standard for R-rated comedy. The movie wants so badly to be “The Hangover’’ that its chubby star, poor Tyler Labine, might as well be carting around a Wayfarers-wearing baby. Also starring Jason Sudeikis as a party boy who throws one last bash at his father’s soon-to-be-sold Hamptons house. (95 min., R) (Loren King)

Magic Trip This documentary about the legendary cross-country bus ride Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters took to the 1964 World’s Fair consists largely of 16mm color movies shot by the passengers. The footage would be worth watching even if Kesey and the Pranksters weren’t the hallucinogenic link between the Beats and hippie culture. It’s that alive with goofy high spirits - and that expertly shaped by directors Alex Gibney and Alison Ellwood. (107 min., unrated) (Mark Feeney)

Myth of the American Sleepover The teenagers in David Robert Mitchell’s debut look like babies. You search all the faces for some trace of adulthood, and you don’t find any. They have pimples and fat and braces. This isn’t how teenagers are in most American movies. It’s one night in the lives of kids from one suburban neighborhood. Mitchell’s voice isn’t particularly original, but it’s warm and full of feeling. (93 min., unrated) (Wesley Morris)

½The Whistleblower Human trafficking in postwar Bosnia is the grim subject of this topical political thriller based on true events. The film is anchored by a compelling performance from Rachel Weisz as Kathryn Bolkovac, a cop who takes a job as a United Nations peacekeeper and uncovers a network of sex trafficking and internal corruption. (118 min., R) (Loren King)
