Don LaFontaine - "The Voice" - silenced at 68

Posted by Michael Saunders September 2, 2008 09:18 AM

Sad news for even casual film fans: Don LaFontaine, the voice of more than 5,000 trailers, died in LA of complications from a collapsed lung.

You've heard him more times than you can remember, and his self-parodying GEICO insurance ads are brilliant. Check out this profile:

  1. Thanks to the great GEICO commercial, voiceover great Don LaFontaine got the recognition he deserved from the public at large, not just from Hollywood and the entertainment industry. Too bad he had to pass away just as he was getting known to everyone. His Voice, and the personality behind that voice, will be missed.

  1. "In a world where previews are better than the movies, his voice reined."
