"Twilight" girl makes good

In my review of "Twilight" today, I made a point of calling out Anna Kendrick for praise. She has the smallish role of Bella's high school pal Jessica, and I said "Some of us have been watching this sharp-edged, whipsmart actress steal scenes since 2003's 'Camp.'"
Looks like there are more of us than I thought: Kendrick has just pulled down a plum role opposite George Clooney in "Up in the Air," an adaptation of a Walter Kirn novel to be directed by Jason "Juno" Reitman. The Hollywood Reporter has the details. Apparently, the relatively unknown Kendrick beat out a lot of better-known actresses for the part of a young woman who meets up with the "career transition expert" (i.e., professional firer) played by Clooney.
Well, good for her. If you want to know what Kendrick is capable of, check out the acid little high school drama "Rocket Science," in which she plays a debate squad ballbuster, or watch "Camp" just to see her absolutely slay Sondheim's "The Ladies Who Lunch."
