SAG Awards: Muddy tea leaves

So the Screen Actors Guild awards were announced last night (I didn't watch the show), and Sean Penn came away with the best actor award for "Milk." Good for him -- the performance is incredible -- but my money's still on Mickey Rourke to get the Oscar for "The Wrestler." The SAG voters tend to reward craft while the greater AMPAS membership tends to go for craft and a good story, and Rourke's comeback is just too juicy to resist. (Plus it's a hell of a performance too.)

A full list of winners is right here. As usual, Penn's acceptance speech (see above) was more modest than the haters would allow.

Streep won best actress for "Doubt," Winslet supporting actress for "The Reader" (no, no, no -- it's a lead performance; for once, the Oscars have it right), and Heath Ledger won supporting actor for "The Dark Knight." "Slumdog Millionaire" took best ensemble cast. I think Winslet will bounce Streep for the Oscar best actress, personally, but we shall see.
