Sundance Day 3: The Video

Posted by Ty Burr January 19, 2009 11:08 AM

Pursuant to the previous entry, here are a few post-screening Q&A clips, both offering useful information for wannabe filmmakers. In the first, "500 Days of Summer" star Joseph Gordon-Levitt talks about how director Mark Webb helped him build his character via iPod. (And maybe this does represent the triumph of the playlist mentality in indie Hollywood movies but Gordon-Levitt still makes an interesting point: The actors never hear the music until they see the final product.)

And here's the Derrick Comedy troupe -- from left to right, actors Dominic Dierkes, Donald Glover, DC Pierson, director Dan Eckman, and their adorable miniature producer Meggie MacFadden -- after the midnight screening of "The Mystery Team." Pierson's explaining how a ragtag New York comedy gang can climb from YouTube to the big screen.
