Sid & Nancy & Zooey & Joseph

Neat idea from online magazine Mean and MSN's Zune: The webseries Cinemash, in which well-known movie types re-enact scenes from their favorite movies with a few curveballs thrown in. First one up has Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing the climactic scene from Alex Cox's 1986 fractured punk fairy-tale "Sid and Nancy" with an additional kink: She's Sid, he's Nancy. It's a good idea that stalls about halfway through, but still. Also, since the two actors also have an upcoming movie to promote, there are -- sigh -- some references to "500 Days of Summer" thrown in. Not necessary but I guess contractually obliged. Upcoming Cinemashes, per a Los Angeles Times article, will include Charlyne Yi and Channing Tatum channeling "Dirty Dancing" and -- an absolute must-see -- Common and "Superbad"'s Christopher Mintz-Plasse's remix of "Training Day."
